Destylarnia Tamdhu

Tamdhu is a distillery built in 1897 in the valley of a tributary to the Spey River - Knockando Burn - a place already known to illegal whisky producers for years and famous for its excellent water quality. The name of the distillery comes from the Gaelic language and means “little black hill”. It is one of the few Scottish distilleries to have its own malt house, and the malt produced there is delicately peated, which distinguishes Tamdhu whisky from most produced in the Speyside region. Tamdhu is famous for using almost exclusively very high-quality sherry casks in the aging process, often first-fill, which give the distillates their dark color and intense aroma.
