Diageo sales increase

British producer of spirits, Diageo, recorded an increase in sales in the last 12 months.

The company recorded a turnover of £ 12.7 billion, an increase of 8.3% compared to the previous year. Organic sales grew by more than 16%. The report also shows strong growth in South America, which was 20.2% for organic sales.

The producer recorded the best sales results in the categories of Scotch whisky, tequila and Baileys liqueur.

Previous publications in Stilnovisti news confirm the current situation on the global market - sales have moved from the on-trade sector (including hotels, bars) to the off-trade sector (including supermarkets) with an increase of over 85% in this category. The on-trade sector continues to recover from the constraints of the SARS-CoV-2 pandemic.

The company has also taken many actions to improve its processes. Increased operating budget by GBP 1.3 billion to GBP 3.7 billion confirms that the company is investing heavily in the spirits sector, including Scotch whisky.

Ivan Menezes, director of Diageo:

I am very pleased with the good financial results. These results show the strength and importance of our brands. (…) Although our business improved significantly in fiscal 21, with continued net sales growth prior to fiscal 19 in three of our five regions, we expect short-term volatility in some markets. (…) I believe Diageo is very well placed to take advantage of these exciting opportunities to drive long-term sustainable growth.
