Glenglassaugh unveils The Serpentine Cask Collection!
The Scotland-based Glenglassaugh Distillery has released a collection of cask bottlings dating back to the 1970s.
Glenglassaugh has launched the Serpentine Coastal Cask Collection, featuring three unique expressions. Each expression, taken from a single cask and individually numbered, has been matured for over 48 years.
After being closed for more than two decades, the distillery on Scotland’s Moray Firth coast reopened in 2008. Upon resuming production, a rare collection of casks was discovered, some of which had been left to mature for over five decades.
The coastal influence is central to Glenglassaugh's character, and the Serpentine Coastal Cask Collection is no exception, drawing inspiration from the distillery’s seaside location. All casks were chosen by master blender Rachel Barrie, who said:
“The legacy of our most sought-after casks dates back to the 1970s, when these precious liquids were first laid down, patiently developing rich natural color and sublime character. It is extremely rare to find casks that have been left to mature in coastal locations for such a long period, and our warehouses, perched on cliffs overlooking Sandend Bay, have safeguarded this rare liquid for over five decades.”
The Serpentine Collection will be available globally on allocation following its exclusive launch today (January 22, 2024) in Singapore, a location chosen for its cultural connection to single malt Scotch whisky. Throughout the year, a limited number of casks will be released into the collection.
