Rare Talisker 1978 whisky cask at a charity auction
Diageo, the largest Scotch whisky producer in the world, donated a 1978 Talisker cask to The Distillers' Charity charity auction. A cask containing 43-year-old single malt whisky is to cost up to 500,000 GBP.
The rare cask will be the main subject of the One of One auction, which will take place on December 3 at Barnbougle Castle in Edinburgh. The auction will also include rare whisky bottles of William Grant & Sons Scotch, Beam Suntory and other manufacturers.
The winner of the auction will win not only an exclusive 43-year-old Scotch whisky, but also a cask lid that has been turned into a work of art called 'Untitled Lamp Black / Quinacridone Gold' by acclaimed artist Callum Innes. The new cask owner will also be invited to visit Royal Deeside, where he will be able to see his acquisition maturing.
