The oldest single malt whisky in the world
This year, 80-year-old single malt Scotch whisky will be available for sale. Bottled by the Gordon & MacPhail company, the whisky comes from the Glenlivet distillery and will be the oldest Scotch single malts to ever hit the market.
Gordon & MacPhail Generations 80YO was distilled and poured into an oak cask on February 3, 1940. Known as Cask 340, this whisky had been maturing in the cask until the 1980s. February 5, 2020, the independent bottler has decided to bottle the distillate, obtaining 250 bottles at 44.9% ABV from the cask. The whisky has been complemented with a unique decanter, supposedly designed by architect and designer Sir David Adjaye.

We both see the significance of creating something exceptional; leaving a legacy for future generations” said Ewen Mackintosh, Managing Director at Gordon & MacPhail.
More information on this unique whisky is expected in September 2021, and the first bottle will be auctioned at Sotheby's in early October.
